A weekly series identifying prescription drugs manufactured in America and their prices.
Janumet (Sitagliptin Metformin HCL) is a popular prescription drug that combines two different diabetes medications, Januvia (sitagliptin) and metformin. Janumet is only for individuals with type II diabetes. It is manufactured by Patheon in the U.S., and is marketed by Merck. Despite being made in the U.S., the price for Janumet is much lower for Americans who choose to order it from a verified international online pharmacy rather than a U.S. pharmacy. From the former, 180 pills of Janumet 50/500 mg costs $172. From the latter, the same quantity costs a staggering $1,050. That’s a 83% savings, or $3,512 over the course of one year.

It’s ridiculous Americans cannot have affordable prescriptions in the USA. Express Scripts, insurance companies and pharmacies are beyond greedy! You have to be rich to survive, and I, along with many others, are not.
I agree, Carla. In the meantime, I hope PharmacyChecker’s price comparisons or patient assistance program information can help: https://www.pharmacychecker.com/ Check out our advocacy efforts on lowering drug prices here: https://www.pharmacychecker.com/affordable-medication-advocacy.asp
You can go to Mercks website and get a coupon for a year. I pay 5 dollars a month for Janumet XR.
Can you get this card by mail
WRONG!!! Unless things have changed in the past year janumet is NOT made in the USA. Although not a bad country it is indeed manufactured in queensborough, kent in the UK.
The united kingdom still qualifies as being made outside of america despite the fact that it is probobly better it is made in england as they have more experience and much tighter regulations.
